Basics
- Definition: Benign Tumor of Ductal Epithelial Cells Within Mammary Ducts
- Solitary Intraductal Papilloma: Single Papilloma
- Usually Found Centrally
- Diffuse Papillomatosis: ≥ 5 Papillomas Within a Localized Breast Segment
- Solitary Intraductal Papilloma: Single Papilloma
- 5-15% Risk of Harboring Atypia, DCIS or Malignancy
Presentation
- Mostly Asymptomatic & Found Incidentally
- May Be Palpable
- Most Common Cause of Bloody/Pathologic Nipple Discharge

Diagnosis
- Initial Evaluation: Imaging (Mammogram, US, MRI or Ductogram/Galactography)
- Diagnosis: Core Needle Biopsy (CNB)

Treatment
- Treatment: Surgical Excision
- *Consider Terminal Duct Excision if No Lesion is Identified on Imaging
