Definition

  • Group of Findings Indicating Metabolic Derangement with Increased Morbidity
  • NCEP ATP III Definition (≥ 3 Of):
    • Abdominal Obesity – Waist Circumference ≥ 40 in (Men) or ≥ 35 in (Women)
    • Triglycerides ≥ 150 mg/dL
      • Or Drug Treatment for Hypertriglyceridemia
    • HDL Cholesterol < 40 mg/dL (Men) or < 50 mg/dL (Women)
      • Or Drug Treatment for Low HDL Cholesterol
    • Blood Pressure ≥ 130/85 mmHg
      • Or Drug Treatment for Hypertension
    • Fasting Glucose ≥ 100 mg/dL
      • Or Drug Treatment of Hyperglycemia
